KMnO₄ is not suitable as an oxidant for etching PCBs in acidic solutions.
The oxidant for etching PCB in acidic solution generally chooses ferric chloride (FeCl₃) as the main component. This is because acidic etchants are often strongly oxidizing and can effectively dissolve metals, especially in acidic environments.
However, KMnO₄ is a strong oxidizing agent and is commonly used to oxidize organic matter and reduce inorganic matter. It is not suitable for use as an oxidant for etching PCBs in acidic solutions because it is too oxidizing and may cause excessive oxidation or damage to the PCB board.
In the case of NaClO, it is a hypochlorite that is the main ingredient in household bleach and can also be used as an oxidizing agent. However, it is usually not used as an oxidant for acidic solution etching of PCBs because its oxidizing properties are relatively weak and cannot effectively dissolve metals.
Generally speaking, the oxidant for etching PCB in acidic solution usually chooses ferric chloride or other substances with strong oxidizing properties instead of KMnO₄ or NaClO.
